About
The Beginning

Starting Over
.Free Clothing Company started as a pursuit of a passion. Available
market niche and a common interest brought Co-partners, Tim Trad
and Joel Beebe, into a pursuit of a company founded on fashion, but
driven towards lifestyle.
The seed was planted while Tim and Joel where in high school. Both worked in the fashion retail industry and were constantly finding
themselves wishing for more out of what was in stores. They found
great worth in the discarded, forgotten and ill-conceived shirts they
would find at local consignment shops.
In 2006 .Free Clothing released it’s “Principal line” which consisted of one shirt. The price point was 12.50 and the shirt was numbered
individually and sold as a limited edition run of 99. At the time Tim
was in a nationally touring band and Joel was studying full time at
Ohio State University to become a product designer.
2007 brought the release of the first full line which included four new
designs each limited to 99 units as well. As .Free began to grow so
did Tim’s band and Joel’s college workload and .Free had to take a
back seat. Tim was touring and selling shirts at the bands shows and
by 2008 had sold out of most of the stock that .Free clothing had to
offer.
.Free Clothing laid pretty dormant until late 2009 when Tim moved
back to Ohio and Joel graduated college. From a limited edition run
of only 7 shirts known as the Roy G Biv series, .Free was reborn. .Free
was quickly built back up to a major name in the independent t-shirt
market, spending a majority of time since it’s rebirth at the top of the
Big Cartel top selling stores.
